Morningside College Reports from China

May 22-25, Shanghai

Advertising of the 2008 Olympics in the Shanghai subways. The poltical science group rode the subways to join a friend of one of the professors in some shopping. Morningside President John Reynders met formally with a vice president of East China Normal University to begin discussions on student and faculty exhanges. The president of the university was in the United States!

The vice president took President Reynders and the group for a walk on the campus.

The Morningside College Choir performed at the East China Normal University after dinner with the university's choir.

The East Normal University Choir performed after the Morningside choir and treated the audience to gospel music as well as a traditional Chinese song. On the evening of May 23, the group attended a fantastic Chinese acrobat show, in which all the performers were between the ages of 10 and 16.

The Morningside College Choir gave their final concert of the tour at the Children's Palace. The concert ended with both choirs joining together to sing "Da Hai a," a Chinese folk song that speaks of the sea as home.
