Colonel George "Bud" Day
Warrior-Lawyer, 1950 Morningside Graduate
Colonel Day, born in Iowa in 1925, is the most decorated Air Force
officer, and one of the most highly-decorated since General Douglas
MacArthur. In a military career spanning 34 years and 3 wars (World
War II, Korea, Vietnam), Day has received 70 decorations, more than
50 of them for combat.
Among his honors is our natioin's highest award, the Medal of Honor.
He also earned its equivalent, the National Order of Vietnam, which
was bestowed by the Republic of South Vietnam. To win the highest
award of any nation is remarkable. To win the highest decoration
from two nations is truly monumental.
Duty Honor Country is the story of the man behind the medals. It
is the story of the Vietnam War and one soldier's part in it.
