Gene came to Morningside
College in 1986 as director of
Public Relations following a
career in broadcast journalism
and as director of Corporate Communications for IBP, Inc.
(now Tyson Foods). He is a graduate of Briar Cliff University
and earned his Master's Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Communications and Journalism. In the late
1990’s, Gene assumed the
duties of Director of Alumni Relations. He is active with a number of different civic and educational organizations. He is also a member of the rock n’ roll band, The Velaires, which was inducted into the Iowa Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
