1983
Diane Heaney, vocal music director at Albert Lea Senior High School, was elected to be the state choral vice president for the Minnesota Music Educators Association. As part of her two-year term, Heaney will run the MMEA All-State Choir Camp for two years. The 2009 camp will be in Moorhead, Minn. Heaney was named the Albert Lea’s Teacher of the Year in 2007 and was a semifinalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year honors in 2008.
1988
Dr. Phillip A. Miller was promoted to associate professor of economics at Minnesota State University in Mankato.
1989
Tom Betz, head boys’ basketball coach at Sioux City Bishop Heelan High School, was named the Sioux City Journal’s Siouxland Basketball Coach of the Year after he guided the Crusaders to a 25-2 record and Iowa’s Class 3A state championship with a 77-42 victory against Norwalk in the title game. The 35-point win tied the third largest margin of victory in 205 state championship games since 1912. Betz has a career record of 159-39 for a .803 winning percentage in eight seasons as Bishop Heelan’s head coach.

Kendall Millard is a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Indianapolis, Ind., and he is a member of the firm's Litigation and Intellectual Property Departments and the Antitrust Practice Group. He was included in "Indiana Rising Stars 2009" in the March issue of Indiana Super Lawyers magazine. Millard's practice focuses on antitrust and other complex commercial litigation. |
