You want an on-campus experience that provides you with answers to all your questions, even those that you can’t think of yet. At Morningside your interests are important to us. We design your visit to meet your needs. Students are encouraged to visit one-on-one with a Morningside faculty member, chat with a current student over lunch, tour the campus with a Student Ambassador, sit in on a class, spend the night in one of our residence halls, visit with a coach or faculty member in a talent area, visit with a member of our Financial Aid staff, and get all your admissions ducks in a row with your Admissions Counselor.

High School Pizza Parties

MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE will bring a pizza party to you!

Your Morningside Admissions Counselor wants to meet you. What better way to get acquainted than sharing pizza and pop in your high school. We will be scheduling pizza parties in high schools in the fall and spring.

Iowa Private College Week
The Iowa Private College Association has developed an outstanding opportunity for students to sample college life at any of the 29 Iowa Private Colleges each summer. Visiting three colleges in a week entitles prospective students to an application fee waiver to all Iowa Private Colleges.

Celebration of Excellence Scholar Weekends

Students nominated for a Celebration of Excellence Scholarship are invited to attend a Scholar Weekend. Nominees interview with a Morningside faculty member for scholarships. Click here for more information on eligibility.

Friday Activities:

Optional individual appointments/auditions with talent areas

Morningside College has limited time slots (on Friday afternoon between 2:00 and 5:00) for nominees wishing to have an individual appointment with a coach OR who would like to complete their music audition, theatre audition, or art portfolio showing.

Social events:

Enjoy a meal with Morningside students and fellow nominees. Attend evening entertainment including Morningside Activities Council (MAC) events and other various campus activities that are sure to give you a taste of Morningside College. Stay overnight in a residence hall with a current Morningside student.


Saturday Activities:

Dean’s & President’s scholar interview:

All nominees for the Dean’s or President’s Scholarship participate in an individual interview. The interview lasts approximately 20 minutes and is held Saturday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Students must return an interview information form with the registration form to participate in the interview. This information is forwarded to the faculty member conducting the interview.

Mustang Co-Curricular alumni appointments:

All nominees for the Mustang Co-curricular Award are scheduled for an individual appointment with a Morningside alumnus/a. These appointments provide the student with the opportunity to provide any additional information that may assist the awarding committee as they evaluate each candidate. In addition, this is a great chance for nominees to ask questions one-on-one of someone who has completed the Morningside experience.

Financial aid appointments:

The Financial Planning Office is available for individual appointments scheduled at registration and offered between 9:30 and 12:00. Sign-up for appointment times will be available at the registration desk Saturday morning.

Informational break-out sessions:

Four different sessions are offered Saturday morning. These sessions are come-and-go as students have interviews, auditions, and other appointments throughout the morning.

Honors luncheon:

All Scholar Nominees and their families are invited to be our guests at an Honors Luncheon. The luncheon will begin at 12:00 p.m. and conclude by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The luncheon features a current Morningside student and an alumni speaker.
Campus tours:
Tours of the campus will be available upon request on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:15.

Directions to Campus
The campus of Morningside College is located at 1501 Morningside Avenue in Sioux City, Iowa; off Interstate Hwy 29, 90 miles north of Omaha, NE, and 75 miles south of Sioux Falls, SD.  

Driving North on I-29::

  • Follow I-29 and take exit #144A “Highway 20 – East Fort Dodge Exit”.
  • Follow Hwy. 20 until you see the 1st exit, Lakeport Road.  Take this exit.
  • At the stoplight turn left on South Lakeport Road.
  • Stay on South Lakeport Road approx. 2 miles and through 7 stoplights.  At the 8th stoplight turn left on Morningside Ave.
  • Go approx. 5 blocks. You will want to merge into the right lane.  Just past McDonalds, Morningside Ave. turns to the right.  Follow Morningside Ave. to the second stoplight (approx. 3 blocks).
  • Turn left on Peters Ave.  You will then see the campus entrance to your left.

Driving South on I-29:

  • Follow I-29 (move to right lane) and take exit #147B – Business Hwy 20/Gordon Drive.
  • At the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp, take a right onto Busn. 20 East/Gordon Drive.
  • Follow Busn. 20 East/Gordon Drive through 2 stoplights and cross the viaduct.
  • At the end of the viaduct, exit right on So. Lewis Blvd.
  • Follow Lewis Blvd. south to the Transit Ave. exit.
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn left at the stoplight.  Go under the bridge and turn right at the stoplight onto Transit Ave.  Stay on this road for just over a mile until you reach the 2nd stoplight. 
  • Turn left onto Morningside Ave.
  • Follow Morningside Ave. to the second stoplight (approx. 3 blocks).
  • Turn left on Peters Ave.  You will then see the campus entrance to your left.

Driving North on Highway 75:

  • From Hwy. 75, take the Transit Ave. exit.
  • Turn right at the stop sign.
  • At the stoplight, turn right onto Transit Ave.  Stay on this road for just over a mile until you reach the 2nd stoplight.  Turn left at the stoplight onto Morningside Ave.
  • Follow Morningside Ave. to the second stoplight (approx. 3 blocks).
  • Turn left on Peters Ave.  You will then see the campus entrance to your left.

Driving South on Highway 75:

    • Follow Highway 75 – S. Sioux City bypass.
    • Take Exit 93 – Ft. Dodge-Gordon Dr.
    • At the stop sign turn right. [Follow Busn. 20 into Sioux City].  You will pass K-Mart and Menards.  Merge into the left lane and go 1.5 miles or to the 4th stoplight and turn left on Stone Ave. (Burger King will be on the right side of the street.)
    • Follow Stone Ave. for 6 blocks to the first stop sign.  Turn left at the stop sign onto Morningside Ave.  Continue on Morningside Ave. for 3 blocks to the 2nd stoplight. 
    • At the 2nd stoplight turn right on Peters Ave.  The entrance to campus is on your left.

Driving West on Highway 20:

    • Follow Business Hwy 20 into Sioux City.  You will pass K-mart and Menards (merge into left lane).  Follow Busn. 20/Gordon Drive until you reach the 4th stoplight at which you will turn left onto Stone Ave. (Burger King will be on the right-hand side.)
    • Follow Stone Ave. approx. 6 blocks until you reach the first stop sign.  Turn left at the stop sign onto Morningside Ave.
    • You will continue on Morningside Ave. for approx. 3 blocks until you reach the 2nd stoplight.
    • Turn right at the second stoplight on Peters Ave.  You will then see the campus entrance to your left.

Driving East on Highway 20 (from Nebraska):

    • Follow Hwy 20 into Iowa to exit #1 Lakeport Road.  Take this exit.
    • At the stoplight turn left on South Lakeport Road.
    • Stay on South Lakeport Road approx. 2 miles and through 7 stoplights.  At the 8th stoplight turn left on Morningside Ave.
    • Go approx. 5 blocks. You will want to merge into the right lane.  Just past McDonalds, Morningside Ave. turns to the right.  Follow Morningside Ave. to the second stoplight (approx. 3 blocks).
    • Turn left on Peters Ave.  You will then see the campus entrance to your left.

From the Airport:

    • Exit the airport and get on I-29 North at exit #141.
    • Follow directions above From I-29 South to get to campus.
