Need-based assistance is based on what your family can afford.
This is first determined by completing the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete this form online
after your taxes have been completed each year. Request your
information be sent to Morningside College (Federal School
Code Number 001879). To view an estimator of your family's
need level go to www.finaid.org/calculators. Many Morningside
College students qualify for the following need-based grants.
Federal Pell Grant
- Up to $4,731 per year.
Eligiblilty Criteria:
1. File the FAFSA.
2. Expected Family Contribution is equal to or less than $4,041.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
1. Must be Pell Eligible
2. Must be a full time student
Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant - up to $750 per year (1st and 2nd year)
1. Must be Pell Eligible
2. Award based on completion of rigorous high school program.
3. Must be a full time student
National Smart Grant - up to $4,000 per year (3rd and 4th year)
1. Must have specific majors
2. Must be Pell Eligible
3. Must be full time
4. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater
Iowa
Tuition Grant - Usually $4,000
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Iowa Resident.
2. Filed the FAFSA prior to July 1st.
3. Expected Family Contribution is equal to or less than
$13,000.
