Notebook Computer Program

Morningside College has been providing residential students with personal computers (PCs) since 1993. In the fall of 2002, the college began its Notebook Computer Program, in which all new, fulltime students are issued notebook computers.

The campus-wide network connects every residence hall, lab, classroom, and office computer to the Internet and the World Wide Web. Students have continuous access to e-mail and the campus library's online resources (as well as catalogs of thousands of other libraries via the Internet). Computer print stations equipped with laser printers are located in each residence hall and are accessible to all resident students 24 hours a day.

The college's Computer Service Center offers a help desk for students and is located on the lower level of the Olsen Student Center. Students can call the center at extension 5544.

The program also offers these benefits...

  • Information technology skills assessment and development
  • Microsoft® Campus Agreement, including the use of Microsoft® Office Professional, FrontPage, and Publisher
  • In-house hardware and software maintenance, including the use of a loaner if needed
  • Campus help desk
  • Wireless network printing in the library and wireless network access in selected areas on campus
  • Personal Web and file-server space on the college’s server
  • Web interface to college e-mail server
  • Four-year parts and labor limited warranty and accidental damage protection
