Submission Requirements

Students submitting to the Palmer Research Symposium must provide the information below through electronic submission. THis year only electronic submissions will be accepted.

  • Author Contact Information.
  • Faculty Sponsor.
  • Type of Presentation. Indicate whether the presentation is either an oral, poster presentation, or panel discussion.
  • Type of Project: Also indicate whether the presentation is empirical (i.e., research based) or non-empirical
    (i.e., literature review).
  • Need for Audio-visual Aids. Please indicate your need for audio-visual aids (e.g., PowerPoint, Overhead,
    TV/VCR, etc.) or any special accommodations.
  • Abstract. Abstract Requirements.  Fifty (50) word limit.  An abstract is a brief summary of the contents of your presentation.  It will allow the review committee to evaluate the presentation and it will allow symposium attendees to quickly determine which presentations to attend.  Abstracts will be published in the program.

Empirical Submission Abstracts should address the following:

  • Title (does not count toward 50 word maximum)
  • Problem or major purpose
  • Participants or subjects
  • Methodology and/or procedures
  • Findings
  • Conclusions and implications, and practical applications, if any

Non-Empirical Submission Abstracts should address the following:

  • Title (does not count toward 50 word maximum)
  • Problem or major purpose
  • Methodologies used (e.g. personal observations, published literature)
  • Conclusions

Panel Discussion Submission

  • Please follow guidelines above for your abstract dependent upon type of submission (i.e. empirical or non-empirical)
